Plug & Abandon Courtesy Notice

The Town of Erie has been notified by Crestone that they will be in and around Erie over the next six weeks plugging and abandoning existing oil and natural gas wells that are no longer needed given the development of the Woolley Becky Sosa and Morgan Hills sites.

The locations that the plug and abandon activity will take place at include:

Woolley A 1-7

  • Located north of County Road 10.5, between County Line Road and County Road 3.
  • Well head and all associated equipment will be removed and the well site reclaimed per the agreement with the surface owner.
  • Activity to start week of March 6.


Erie Champlin B Unit 1

  • Located south of County Road 10 and west of County Road 3.
  • Well head and all associated equipment will be removed and the well site reclaimed per the agreement with the surface owner.
  • Activity anticipated to start the week of March 13.


Erie Champlin B Unit 2

  • Located north of Erie Parkway and west of Colliers Boulevard.
  • Well head and all associated equipment will be removed and the well site reclaimed per the agreement with the surface owner.
  • Activity anticipated to start the week of March 20.


Thomas E Unit 1

  • Located south of County Road 10.5 and east of County Line Road.
  • Only the well head will be removed as there are other wells on this site Crestone will continue operating.
  • Activity anticipated to start the week of March 27.


Bearden 1

  • Located south of Westview Road and east of County Line Road.
  • Only the well head will be removed as there are other wells on this site Crestone will continue operating.
  • Activity anticipated to start March 31.


Woolley F Unit 1

  • Located north of County Road 10.5, between County Line Road and County Road 3.
  • Well head and all associated equipment will be removed and the well site reclaimed per the agreement with the surface owner.
  • Activity anticipated to start week of April 3.


Sosa A Unit 1

  • Location is North of Evans Street and east of County Line Road.
  • Only the well head will be removed as there are other wells on this site Crestone will continue operating.
  • Activity anticipated to start week of April 10.


Thomas 7-12

  • Located south of County Road 10.5 and east of County Line Road.
  • Well head and all associated equipment will be removed and the well site reclaimed per the agreement with the surface owner.
  • Activity anticipated to start during the week of April 10


Each of these locations are identified on Crestone’s activity map on Erie’s website.

During plugging and abandoning activity, a work-over rig and other heavy equipment will be needed. All access is limited to the designated access roads for these sites. According to Crestone, all work will be done during the day and should take approximately five days to complete work at each location. Some locations may require more time for reclamation and reseeding as these activities are weather dependent.
