Public Art & Placemaking Survey

Placemaking is a way to inspire collective reimaging of public spaces to strengthen the connection between people and the places they share. Placemaking fosters creative uses of public spaces, by acknowledging the physical, cultural, and social identities that define a specific community.

An effective placemaking process leans heavily into engagement with the residents, business owners, and visitors to the area to create public spaces that contribute to health, happiness, and well-being. The Town of Erie is in the beginning phases of a thoughtful creation of a Public Art & Placemaking program and need your help in creating it! Please visit www.erieco.us/public-art to review intentions of the program, participate in a survey to help guide the direction of this new program, and view examples of other placemaking features from our neighbors. Regional Minimum Wage Discussion  

Recently, the State of Colorado approved an ordinance allowing municipalities to adopt their own minimum wage. So far, the City & County of Denver is the only municipality in Colorado that has set a new required minimum wage beyond the $13.65 benchmark set by the State. The Boulder County Commissioners have followed suit and will introduce a new minimum wage of $15.70 (a 15% increase) for all unincorporated areas in Boulder County starting on Jan. 1, 2024. While this specific increase would not impact businesses within the Town of Erie, the Boulder County Consortium of Cities – a group of municipalities within Boulder County - is encouraging a regional approach to researching the impact of a higher minimum wage. 

The Town of Erie is encouraging businesses within Erie to complete a survey about their current thoughts on the minimum wage conversation. Boulder County also has a survey for both businesses and residents/employees to complete by Oct. 16. The results of the Boulder County survey will be shared with Erie and other participating municipalities in the Consortium of Cities.

Tree Diversity Walk with the Town Forester 

Curious about some of the thriving trees you see in our community? Join Tom Read, Town Forester, and members of the Town of Erie Tree Board for an informative tree walk highlighting the unique, diverse tree species present in Arapahoe Ridge Park. Learn about tree species and why they grow well in Erie! This tree walk will be on Friday, Sept. 15 at noon at Arapahoe Ridge Park (1750 Powell Street) Meet the group at the baseball field.

BERT Trail Project Meeting

Do you travel from Boulder to Erie or vice versa on a regular basis? Would you like to do so safely on your bike? Join the conversation! Tell Boulder County about your ideas for the Boulder to Erie Regional Trail (BERT) during an upcoming public meeting. This discussion will be at the Erie Community Library on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 5-7 p.m. The project presentation will begin at 5:30.
