Welcome New Chief & Deputy Chief

At a ceremony last week on Aug. 30, Kim Stewart retired as the Chief of Police for the Erie Police Department after exactly 10 years of service with Erie. This last decade rounded out an extraordinary career in both law enforcement and the military and our community is lucky to have had her leading our public safety professionals. During the same ceremony to wish her well, a new Chief and Deputy Chief were also announced and began their service. Chief Lee Mathis and Deputy Chief Heather Carmosino are now leading the EPD with extensive experience between the two of them. Welcome to Chief Mathis and Deputy Chief Carmosino! You can read more about the transition in a full release here.

2013 Front Range Flood – Ten Year Anniversary

Ten years ago, from Sept. 11-15, 2013, the Front Range experienced significant rainfall. This event caused flooding, loss of life, and widespread damage. We are joining with our neighbors to commemorate this anniversary. Now we want YOU to join us as we reflect on the flood, our stories of community resilience, and how far we’ve come.

Did you know Erie suffered damage as well? Were you here 10 years ago? Learn more about the flood and the work done across the region to repair and prepare since, and share your story with us through art, sculpture, an audio recording, written works and any other media that expresses your experience. Upload your reflections on the interactive website: https://bldr.fyi/2013FloodCommemoration. A storytelling event is planned at the Carnegie Library in Boulder (1125 Pine Street) on Sept. 12 from 6-8 p.m. Registration is requested at https://calendar.boulderlibrary.org/event/10807708.

Additional KidStation Hours Resume

Beginning Sunday, Sept. 10, we will have KidStation OPEN for Sunday childcare. The Town received feedback from several families and members of the community about the availability of the service, and we agree that it is time to provide this option on Sundays once again. We hope these additional weekend hours will make attending Sunday fitness classes and getting in a workout more accessible for all families. Sunday KidStation hours will be from 8 a.m.-noon, with the usual 90-minute time limit. The staff at the Community Center are grateful for your trust in us with your amazing kiddos and for sharing feedback on how we can better serve you. Find additional KidStation information at www.erieco.gov/191/KidStation.

Cone Zones

Each week we list the projects that may have the biggest impact on traffic flow for that week. As always, please sign up for alerts to get more details about these projects and many others. More information and details for how to sign up are at www.erieco.gov/ConeZone.

Concrete Repairs: Concrete Repairs are set to take place across Erie Parkway, Countyline Road, and Canyon Creek areas of Town through Sept. 15, with the timeline being subject to weather conditions. The Streets team will be working daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at various locations across the community. The main focus of these repairs will be on improving sidewalks, updating curbs, and performing other crucial maintenance tasks.

During this period, be prepared for potential lane closures, limited parking, and the usual noise associated with construction work. We kindly ask that everyone adhere to temporary traffic and parking signs and exercise caution near the work sites. These efforts aim to enhance both the safety and aesthetics of Erie, so your patience and cooperation are highly valued. A more detailed map of all impacted areas can be found at https://bit.ly/3P6EN7q.
