Lehigh Park Playground Repair 

Lehigh Park endured some heavy impacts from the hail earlier this year. Town staff are committed to repairing the hail-damaged amenities at this playground and appreciate your patience as we wait for the arrival of the replacement system. Great news - the replacement climber at Lehigh Park has arrived and was installed by staff within one day of its arrival in Erie. The new climber is now safe and functioning!

Not-so-great news - the double slide also arrived from the manufacturer; however, the new model did not match our older mounting system. We are currently waiting for the new mounting system to arrive from the manufacturer; once it arrives, a contractor must install it. Unfortunately, we are still looking at 8-10 weeks before this is complete. That saying, “when it rains, it pours” really applies to the situation at Lehigh – this amenity has been experiencing some hurdles this year, but we are working hard to repair and replace all equipment as quickly and safely as possible. 

REMINDER: Wildfire Protection Plan Public Meeting - Aug. 30

Wildfire is heavy on our minds following the current devastation in Maui and the recent disaster in our own backyard with the Marshall Fire. But you can help ensure a safer future for our communities! A Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is a plan designed to assist in mitigating wildfire risk by assessing areas at risk and recommending measures to decrease those risks. You can play a part in crafting fire mitigation recommendations to reduce risk in our community by joining an upcoming community event!

An upcoming event in Erie will be on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Leon A. Wurl Service Center building at 150 Bonnell (Lambert) Ave. Boulder County, MVFPD, and the Town of Erie will be on hand to discuss mitigation best practices and engage with interested members of the public. Concrete Repairs: Concrete Repairs are set to take place across Erie Parkway, Countyline Road, and Canyon Creek areas of Town through Sept. 15, with the timeline being subject to weather conditions. The Streets team will be working daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at various locations across the community. The main focus of these repairs will be on improving sidewalks, updating curbs, and performing other crucial maintenance tasks.

During this period, be prepared for potential lane closures, limited parking, and the usual noise associated with construction work. We kindly ask that everyone adhere to temporary traffic and parking signs and exercise caution near the work sites. These efforts aim to enhance both the safety and aesthetics of our community, so your patience and cooperation are highly valued.
