Sparkler Tournament June 27-July 1It's the best time of the year, Sparkler Week! We are excited to partner with Triple Crown Sports to host one of the largest youth softball tournaments in the country this week. The Sparkler tournament brings in teams from across the country and in Erie we are lucky enough to provide facilities for the most competitive 14-year-old divisions in the tournament. Games will be played at the Ballpark at Erie and Clayton Park from Tuesday, June 27 through Saturday, July 1 with some days having up to 36 games. This is a great opportunity for the Parks & Recreation department to show off our top-notch parks and provide a wonderful experience for the players here in Erie! Anyone interested in seeing a game can stop by either location throughout the week to watch high-quality softball. If you're at the Erie Community Park don't forget to stop by the Concession Stand for a sweet drink or cold drink.

Fireworks Event on July 3In just one week, this year’s Independence Day event in the Town of Erie will be an evening to remember! The event is on Monday, July 3 and will once again be at the Erie Community Center with viewing areas all throughout Erie Community Park. Parking for the event begins at 6 p.m. with food trucks and other vendors set up near The Post pavilion at the newest section of the park. Fireworks begin at roughly 9:30 p.m. depending on lighting and weather conditions. Check the Site Map and the event page for more details. Please remember that no alcohol, glass, or personal fireworks are allowed at the event. If you plan to bring a tent or other shade structure, be sure to bring weights or sandbags (no stakes are allowed in the park) and ensure you aren’t obstructing views of people surrounding you. Pets are allowed at the event, though all must be leashed and for their own comfort we recommend leaving them at home. Anyone who can bike or walk to the event is encouraged to do so as parking will be limited around the area.

Cone ZonesEach week we list the projects that may have the biggest impact on traffic flow for that week. As always, please sign up for alerts to get more details about these projects and many others. More information and details for how to sign up are at www.erieco.gov/ConeZone. Sheridan between Ridgeview Dr. and Hwy 7: Due to recent adverse weather conditions, the completion of many of our road construction projects has been unavoidably delayed. Persistent rainfall over the past few weeks has made it impossible to place asphalt due to the need for drying time of the base layer. Recent breaks between storms have allowed us to get back on schedule and move forward with the paving operations on the Sheridan Pkwy reconstruction project. - Week 6 (June 26-30): Full depth asphalt paving along with asphalt patching, a 2" mill, and an asphalt overlay.
- Week 7 (July 3): Street striping and pavement markings. Please note, in observance of Independence Day, there will be no work on July 4.
- Week 7 (July 5-7): Complete the street striping, pavement markings, restoration, and inspection.
Road work is weather-dependent, and timelines may shift. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should always be aware and use caution when in and around work zones. Whenever possible, please avoid the construction areas.
