Polish Cultural Event Receives Award
Our exemplary Town staff received the Outstanding Community Project award from the Greeley Weld Senior Foundation for their collaborative effort creating the cultural event which took place earlier this year. Requirements for this award were three statements from program participants regarding the project’s success and a statement explaining how this project impacted our community.
One of many participant statements: "I enjoyed the Polish experience so much. We were treated to a travel experience to Poland without leaving town. The songs and dances of Poland were performed so well by people of all ages and explained by organizer Karina. Additionally, we were informed by displays of maps, Polish pottery and other goods and information, including famous faces of Poland. Polish Pierogies and sausage offered a taste of Polish cuisine which was very much appreciated. I look forward to the possibility to traveling to other land and learning about other cultures in the future." - Judy D.
The Polish Folk Dancers and singers were from the St. Joseph Polish Church. The dancers performed dances from 10 different regions of Poland. All the costumes, shoes, and accessories were handmade from Poland. The Polish cuisine included Pierogies, Kielbasa, and a pastry. The principal of the school provided education on famous people, fun facts, Polish pottery, and Polish traditions.
