Hailstorm and Heavy Rain UpdatesLast week, Erie was right in the eye of a wet, spring storm and was hit by some of the largest hail in the area. Heavy rain followed the initial hailstorm and caused leaks in some Town buildings, flooding on much of our trail system, and other dangerous conditions. We want to thank Erie residents for being so kind, thoughtful, and helpful to your neighbors during this time. We heard stories from across the community of neighbors helping neighbors as we clean-up and repair after the storm. From the Town government perspective, most of our vehicles from Police, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation have some level of damage. Some of our trails, parks, playgrounds, and facilities need repairs as well. If you are like us and will need experts to help repair in some cases, please be cautious and thoughtful as you hire help. Any contractors need to be licensed through the Town before they can complete any work. Please reach out to the Building Division at 303-926-2780 to check on licensing status. Also, please remember that all businesses attempting to go door-to-door must have a Solicitor’s License through the Town and cannot approach any homes that have added themselves to the No Solicitors List. Visit the Solicitors webpage to check for licensed companies or add your address to the list.

Police Week & Peace Officers' Memorial DayOn May 9, 2023, the Erie Board of Trustees proclaimed May 14 - May 20, 2023 to be Police Week and May 15, 2023 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day in honor of those peace officers who, through courageous deeds, have lost their lives or have become disabled in the performance of their duties. Chief Kimberly Stewart remarked, "The number of officers in the United States who have already given their lives in 2023 in the service of others is a harrowing 36. Of those, 17 were killed by gunfire. Thus far, 20 states have lost officers in the line of duty in 2023. Colorado is one of those states. We honor those who have fallen, who did their very best to hold the line between good and those who would do others harm." View the presentation.

Cone ZonesEach week we list the projects that may have the biggest impact on traffic flow for that week. As always, please sign up for alerts to get more details about these projects and many others. More information and details for how to sign up are at www.erieco.gov/ConeZone. - County Line Road Changes –County Line Road, between Hwy 7 and Monroe Street, is scheduled for a permanent closure to southbound traffic, beginning in the next week – exact date to come. This closure will be permanent as part of the ongoing infrastructure developments within our community. The closure is also necessary to allow for utility work associated with the Lafayette Water Reclamation Facility Expansion project and as part of the decommissioning plan within the Parkdale development project, in line with our
- Intergovernmental Agreement with Lafayette.
During this transition, we advise residents to use the detour via 119th Street and Arapahoe Road. This detour is a temporary measure. We anticipate the completion of Coal Creek Boulevard this summer, which will replace County Line Road as the new primary southbound route. We are diligently coordinating with the Parkdale Developer, Xcel, and CDOT to ensure a smooth and timely completion of Coal Creek Boulevard.
Road work is weather-dependent, and timelines may shift. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should always be aware and use caution when in and around work zones. Whenever possible, please avoid the construction areas.
