Breeding Season: Be Coyote Aware 

Prime time for coyote calling is upon us. Coyotes are more aggressive and more apt to respond to the right sounds in February and March. Alphas are protecting their space while roaming males are searching for a mate. If you encounter a coyote behaving aggressively or a coyote attack, we urge you to contact dispatch at 303-441-4444. Ask to speak to an officer who collect details and relay those to Colorado Parks and Wildlife; another service your police department offers. Erie Ice Rink Closes for the Season 

Monday, Feb. 20, was the last day of the season at the Erie Ice Rink after a successful few months of lessons, hockey practice, and exciting performances. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed the amenity and we look forward to next season when the ice rink will move to its new Coal Creek Park location! Coal Creek Park is tentatively scheduled for a grand opening in late May (weather permitting). Follow along for more progress updates at the park at www.erieco.gov/CoalCreekPark. 

Permit Process for Solar Install Now Easier

The Building Division in partnership with the Sustainability Division has created a new permitting and inspections checklist for obtaining a solar installation permit. The pre-submittal checklist contains the minimum information and project plan details required to be submitted to the Town of Erie when applying for a permit to install a residential or commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) system. The intent of the checklist is to provide transparent and well-defined information to minimize the number of required revisions, improve permit application quality, and accelerate the application and review process. 2023 Budget Book Available for Viewing

The Finance Department has compiled the Town of Erie 2023 Budget Book for any interested readers. The book describes in detail the planned spending for all departments in just 214 short pages. Don’t worry – the book isn’t all just spreadsheets and text, there are plenty of colorful charts to review as well. The 2023 Budget was officially adopted by the Board of Trustees on Nov. 15, 2022 and an opportunity for supplemental budget requests will be provided to staff in May.

• Snow Removal Reminders – It is the time of year when we will see varying amounts of snow in our community. The Town of Erie Public Works Department Operation & Maintenance Division is ready with a snow control plan to keep streets safe and accessible during periods of snow and ice. The goal is to provide snow and ice control services for the safe through-travel of residents and commuters. By Town Ordinance, property owners are responsible for clearing their sidewalks of snow within 24 hours following each snowstorm. 
   
  Snow should not be shoveled into the streets, but rather the snow should be placed back on the resident's property (to provide moisture for landscaping and reduce runoff).
