Police Activity near 400 block of Pierce Street

Earlier today, December 15, 2022, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Erie Police Officers responded to a second degree burglary/protection order violation in the 400 block of Pierce Street. The suspect was identified and located nearby inside a residence. Officers maintained surveillance on the suspect and applied for an arrest warrant.

At approximately 8 a.m., while waiting for the arrest warrant to be issued, Erie Middle and Erie Elementary schools were notified of law enforcement activity in the area and advised the school leadership to place the schools in 'Secure Status'. As the suspect was still under surveillance, the 'Secure Status' was lifted immediately.

Once the warrant was issued, and officers were ready to attempt to arrest the suspect, Erie Middle and Erie Elementary schools were again placed on Secure Status.

The suspect was taken into custody, and this second Secure Status was lifted.
