The Communications & Community Engagement Department featured police news in a full page in this month’s Erie Edition. This is just one more way to discover a sampling of what is happening at your police department. Home Rule Charter Commission Plans Engagement Meetings

The newly elected Home Rule Charter Commission has been hard at work discussing and diving deep into creating a draft Charter to be presented in May 2023. All details about the Charter Commission members, their meeting agendas, and recordings of the meetings so far can be found online. The Charter Commission has determined they would like to set aside the third Thursday of the month to gather comment from the community. These meetings will begin Thursday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room at Town Hall (645 Holbrook Street).

Any interested members of the public are invited to attend the meeting and share their comments – comments will be limited to 3 minutes per person. Residents can also submit comments or questions to the Charter Commission at any time through an online comment form. More information from the Charter Commission will be shared as it is available.

Share Your Family Traditions

Beginning Dec. 19 at the Erie Community Center and at Town Hall, we ask visitors to Town facilities to share your winter traditions by writing them down on a snowflake and placing them on the Celebration Corner! Perhaps your family makes a trip to the mountains to find the perfect Christmas tree, maybe you have a special way of choosing who lights the menorah each night, or maybe you have a tradition of snowshoeing each time a fresh batch of snow falls in the foothills. Share the special activities you plan each winter to make it through the cold and darker days, and maybe someone else will post a great idea you want to try out this year too!

Boulder County Motor Vehicle Using Appointment Service Model

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder’s Motor Vehicle Division moved to an appointments-based service model for all in-person services. Additionally, annual vehicle registration/license plate renewals now need to be completed online, by mail or drop box, or at a self-service kiosk.

The new modernized appointment system allows appointments to be booked not just by time and day but also by the service needed. It also features Spanish-language options, text reminders, and a mobile check-in process. To learn more about this change or to make an appointment, visit www.BoulderCounty.gov/MV. 60+ Ride Approved for Weld County Older Adults

A new public service project has been approved by the Weld County board of county commissioners. The 60+ Ride’s subrecipient agreement through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) was approved by the Weld County Commissioners in a meeting last week. 60+ Ride provides free transportation services to medical appointments, grocery stores, financial and government institutions, social events, and more, for Weld County residents over the age of 60.

The project was approved by Weld County earlier this month with a total funding amount of $68,775 for services running from Dec. 2022 to May 2023. Go online to learn more about the program.

Utility Work on County Line Road – Utility construction work as part of the Four Corners development at Town Center requires lane closures around County Line Road and Erie Parkway. This closure affects southbound and northbound traffic on County Line Road, just south of Erie Parkway beginning through Dec. 15 (day and night). Southbound traffic will be shifted to the east along County Line Road.
Guardrail Repair - On Wednesday, Dec. 14, a Town of Erie contractor will begin making repairs to the westbound Erie Parkway guardrail west of Montgomery Drive, just before the Coal Creek Bridge. A shift to one lane of traffic is expected during the construction, full closures of the roadway are not anticipated. Work should be completed the same day.

Road work is weather-dependent, and timelines may shift. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should always be aware and use caution when in and around work zones. Whenever possible, please avoid the construction areas.
