Update: State 30-16 Site Work & Methane Investigation
Renewed plugging and abandonment operations are complete on the State 30-16 and State 6-16 wellsites and are currently underway on the State 21-16 wellsite. Work at this site includes normal well retirement activities and will continue 24 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
After activities with the workover rig are completed at State 21-16, the State 3-16 well will be the final well on the pad receiving work. Current operations on the pad are anticipated to continue through the end of the year.
Occidental offered the following statement regarding the work:
“Our evaluation and testing continue to show no risk to the health, safety, and welfare of the community and environment. In addition, there are no detectable impacts beyond the fenced project area. Since we began air monitoring in August 2021, there’s been no instance where levels approached the Health Guidance Value. Additionally, no methane has been detected at the surface. We will continue to post project updates and air monitoring reports at www.oxycoloradostakeholder.com/project-updates.”
