COGCC Hearing: Cosslett East 22H-H168 Approved
The Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) voted unanimously to approve the Oil and Gas Development Plan (OGDP) submitted by Crestone Peak/Civitas Resources for the Cosslett East 22H-H168 site on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
The OGDP proposes expanding the existing Cosslett B Unit 61N68W 22SENE, located in unincorporated Weld County outside Erie limits south of Erie Parkway and west of I-25, to drill 19 new horizontal wells. This oil and gas facility is located approximately 6,800ft from the nearest Erie residence, more than 8,800ft from the nearest school (Erie High), and more that 2,000ft from any occupied residence.
The Town of Erie filed petition to participate in the hearings as an “affected party” and “Proximal Local Government” where the Town requested several “Best Management Practices” (BMPs) which are more stringent than State Regulations be included as Conditions of Approval on the permit. While the Commission declined to include Erie’s BMPs in the permit to operate, Crestone Peak provided documents and letters of assurance, as well as committing on record to the Commission, that they will fully comply with Erie’s more stringent BMPs.
The full OGDP submitted is available online and the hearings, which took place on Oct. 19, 20, and 26 can be viewed on YouTube.
