Overnight Catalytic Converter Thefts

Between midnight and 2 a.m. between Thursday, Sept. 29, and Monday, October 3, six catalytic converters were stolen from six Toyota Priuses in different neighborhoods in Erie. Three suspects in a light-colored sedan approach the vehicles parked either on the street or driveway and within three minutes, using a jack and Sawzall, are able to remove the emission-control devices.

Erie Police Investigators are reviewing surveillance and urging residents to check to see if they may have also been a victim and to please call 303-441-4444.

Catalytic converter thefts are on the rise, especially in the Denver metro area. We need your help.

If you see something suspicious or hear something odd, like loud power tools late at night from your neighbor's house, we ask you to please do not hesitate to call 911.
