Request for Proposals Open for Comprehensive Plan Consulting

As the Town begins the process to update our Comprehensive Plan, staff have posted a Request for Proposals for potential consulting firms. The deadline for submittals is Aug. 31 and staff hope to recommend a consulting team to the Planning Commission and Board of Trustees in early October. The Comp Plan update will incorporate a robust transportation and mobility element and consider equity, sustainability, and long-term resilience in the formation of new or updated policies. The update process is expected to kick-off this fall with substantial opportunities for community involvement throughout 2023.

Do You Know Your School Resource Officers?

With school starting, school safety is on the minds of School Resource Officers (SRO) who are eager to ensure learning environments are safe and to support the success of all students in our community. The Erie Police Department (EPD) and the St. Vrain Valley School District are committed to the SRO program. EPD believes building relationships between law enforcement officers and all members of our community, including students and families, builds a better understanding of law enforcement and strengthens the overall safety of our community.

SROs work with the Safe2Tell program to respond quickly to address potential needs. Safe2Tell provides students, parents, and community members a safe and anonymous way to report information concerning personal safety or the safety of others. Safe2Tell’s reporting process is simple - call 877-542-7233 or visit safe2tell.org.

Summer is the season for major road improvement projects. Each week we will list the projects that may have the biggest impact on traffic flow for that week. As always, please sign up for alerts to get more details about these projects and many others. More information and details on how to sign up are at www.erieco.gov/ConeZone.

  • WCR 5: The final phase of the WCR 5 Improvements Project begins on Wednesday, Aug. 17. This phase shift includes a full opening of WCR 5. Intermittent closures of eastbound and westbound WCR 10 at the intersection of WCR 5 are expected with work occurring between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
    • A traffic signal at Flora View and WCR 5 will be installed in November, when staff expects the manufacturer to deliver the signal. Until then, the Town has contracted with S.E.S. Security to provide traffic management at that intersection during school daily start and end periods to help students to cross safely.
  • WCR 7 and Erie Parkway: Lane shifts to the north on Erie Parkway. WCR 7 closed south of Erie Parkway for approximately 3 weeks.
  • Airpark Reconstruction: Road subgrade treatment and repaving is underway with project completion expected in September. Access for residents remains open throughout construction, but residents may expect short delays in some areas.
  • Hwy 7: Lane shifts on Hwy 7 at the new Parkdale connection (Coal Creek Boulevard) to add additional turn lanes and begin signal improvements.

Please remember that all road work is weather-dependent, and timelines may shift. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should always be aware and use caution when in and around work zones. Whenever possible, please avoid the construction areas.
