Airpark Road Reconstruction Starting Aug. 8
The first phase, and largest impacts, for Erie Airpark road construction is anticipated to start Aug. 8 and continue through Aug. 31. Road surfaces will be removed to apply a subgrade treatment before repaving the streets. Every attempt to meet the current driveway access will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Some of the driveway accesses will need to be adjusted due to the increased height of the road, an inch or two in most cases. Driveway access tie-ins, site cleanup, and final checklist items will continue through the month of September. The anticipated schedule for this final work will be shared when available.
Other roads not under construction within the Airpark neighborhood could be affected by noise, traffic generated by contractors, and temporary traffic controls in place during the project.
Frequent traffic shifts and lane closures are expected. Drivers should expect trucks and equipment entering and exiting the work zone. Temporary rough driving surfaces may be present.
General work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to dusk, with occasional extended hours. Saturday work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. No work is expected to take place on Sundays and holidays.
Below is a preliminary schedule. The Town will be discussing progress with the contractor once work starts and will make every attempt to get updates distributed in a timely fashion to those affected by the project. Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change based on progress and/or delays.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Skylane Drive: Aug. 8-12
- Viking Court: Aug. 8-12
- Bellanca Court: Aug. 9-16
- Commander Drive: Aug. 10-16
- Mooney Place: Aug. 11-17
- Cherokee Court: Aug. 12-25
- Piper Drive from Cul-de-sac/end of road to Mooney: Aug. 11-19
- Piper Drive from Mooney Pl. to Cherokee Ct.: Aug. 12-23
- Piper Drive from Cherokee Ct to Bonanza Dr.: Aug. 15-26
- Entire Piper Drive - Overlay: Aug. 29-31
During the project, crews on-site will accommodate residents leaving and accessing their homes although minor delays will be possible at times when the work being performed is directly in front of accesses. Although roads will be accessible during the project there will be full closures at times in small blocks of time to accommodate the subgrade treatment. All roads will be accessible during off work hours.
We apologize in advance as this will be an inconvenience at times with the road conditions, equipment and general construction taking place. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we have the chance to get these roads repaired.
