Rainwater Harvesting at Home

Did you know that in Colorado you are allowed to have up to two 55-gallon rain barrels on your property? Harvested rainwater can be used to supplement the watering needs of your landscape and the best news - it’s free water! The rooftop of a typical home can collect more than 400 gallons of water from just ½ inch of rain making it well worth the effort! Every time you collect 110 gallons of water, you can adequately irrigate about 180 square feet of landscape. Not only are rain barrels easy to install and use, but the Town of Erie also offers a rebate for up to $50 per barrel! For more information on rainwater harvesting and rain barrel use check out Colorado State University Extension.

He also went over information about recent spills or releases from these well sites and reviewed the current municipal code regulations, and updates to State regulations that apply to oil and gas operations. View the full presentation and hear questions from the Board in the meeting recording.

Zero Fare for Better Air Campaign in August from RTD

For the month of August, RTD will provide all services – bus, rail, paratransit, and microtransit – at zero fare for all riders. Zero Fare for Better Air, which takes place during Colorado’s highest ozone month, is supported through a grant program created by Colorado Senate Bill 22-180 in partnership with the Colorado Energy Office. At a kickoff event on July 28 at 10 a.m. near Track 6 at Union Station, members of the public are invited to chat with RTD staff about agency projects, initiatives, and items of interest, including transit safety, Reimagine RTD, and the fare study and equity analysis.
