Erie Uses Federal Grant to Improve Traffic Signal Communication
The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) awarded the Town of Erie a grant to support the town-wide Signal System and Communication project. All engineering and designs have been completed for this project and the work is now scheduled to begin on Monday, July 11.
This project increases efficiencies with our traffic signals and allows for future intelligent transportation technologies. The contractor, Interface Communications, will be installing fiber along County Line Road, complemented with radio transmitters on most of our traffic signals. Work for this project is scheduled to start July 11 at the intersection of Erie Parkway and County Line Road and will require intermittent lane closures.
After the fiber work is completed, Interface will shift to installing radio transmitters and other equipment at the intersections shown in the graphic below. The project is expected to be completed in September. Please use caution and reduce speeds when traveling through associated construction zones.
Funding for the DRCOG grant comes from the Federal Highway Administration. Questions about this project can be directed to Tyler Burhenn at tburhenn@erieco.gov or 303-926-2798.
