Operation Chill
Police Issue Slurpees for Good Behavior

The Erie Police Department is joining 7-Eleven and hundreds of law enforcement agencies in Operation Chill again this summer!  This program offers opportunities for our Erie officers to interact with youngsters and “ticket” them when observed doing good deeds or exhibiting exemplary behavior.

The ticket is actually a coupon for a FREE small Slurpee beverage at any participating 7-Eleven stores!  In addition to rewarding good behavior by youth, Erie police officers will look to reward kids for wearing bicycle helmets, participating in community activities and organizations, picking up trash, deterring crime, or observing traffic rules.

“We are always looking for ways to help our officers build strong relationships with the youth in our community”, said Chief Kimberly Stewart, “Operation Chill makes it fun for us to interact with kids in a positive way”. Though the reasons for being “ticketed” may vary, the end result is the same: a free Slurpee drink and a smile for our Erie kids.

The Erie Police Department hopes everyone can “chill out” and enjoy the summer!
