Erie Police Department has been researching the procurement of license plate reading cameras that will alert officers to stolen vehicles that are within Erie. With auto theft being at an all-time high statewide, and those stolen vehicles often being used to commit subsequent crimes, this system is a tool to help recover stolen vehicles swiftly.
Erie Police Department has been researching the procurement of drones and implementation of a drone program to respond to in-progress incidents most efficiently. Across the country, police departments are using a myriad of means and resources at their disposal. Locally, drones are being used more commonly, and this tool for police departments has become not only mainstream – but expected.
