Let's Talk 'Community Safety Tools'

Join members of the Erie Police Department for a listening session designed to collect sentiment from the Erie community about the police department's use of enhanced Community Safety Tools.

When: Wednesday, June 22, 7 p.m.
Where: Virtual
Why:  Community Safety Tools
  • Erie Police Department has been researching the procurement of license plate reading cameras that will alert officers to stolen vehicles that are within Erie. With auto theft being at an all-time high statewide, and those stolen vehicles often being used to commit subsequent crimes, this system is a tool to help recover stolen vehicles swiftly.

  • Erie Police Department has been researching the procurement of drones and implementation of a drone program to respond to in-progress incidents most efficiently. Across the country, police departments are using a myriad of means and resources at their disposal. Locally, drones are being used more commonly, and this tool for police departments has become not only mainstream – but expected.

Our vision is “to be highly trained police professionals committed to our community”. And to that end, we invite you to learn more from the subject matter experts within our police department and share your comments or concerns.

As Mayor Brooks stated, "We continue to work together with the community to ensure that Erie remains among the safest communities not only in our state but in our country."
