Moose Encounters in Erie
The Erie Police Department, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife were made aware of the moose in the heart of Erie earlier this afternoon.
We ask the community to aid us in keeping everyone safe by:
- Maintaining a safe distance (further than you would initially think is safe) if you encounter the moose.
- Refraining from taking selfies with wildlife.
- Keeping dogs on a leash.
Ideally, the moose will bed down for the evening which will allow Colorado Parks and Wildlife to do what they do best.
If there is an immediate danger, call 911, otherwise, after 5 p.m. Colorado State Patrol takes the helm for wildlife calls and can be reached at 303-239-4501.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be available to take calls during business hours at 303-239-4501.
