WCR 5 Improvements Project | Phase 1 Update
Last week, the Town announced the start of Phase 1 for the continuation of the WCR 5 Improvements Project. Phase 1 will include the full closure of Weld County Road 5 from Weld County Road 10 south to Flora View Drive.
Our contractors and engineers anticipated closing that section of the road beginning on Monday, March 14 at 7 a.m. but that closure has been delayed until the evening of the same day – Monday, March 14.
The closure was fully dependent on the paving, striping, and opening of the final stretch of Flora View Drive (stretching east from Horizon Avenue) and that final work on Flora View Drive was delayed due to frigid temperatures and snowy conditions over the last week. The contractor is confident they have only been set back one day’s work and will be able to fully open Flora View Drive and close the Phase 1 section of WCR 5 by the end of the day on Monday.
At this point, no other estimated timelines have been affected, though as with all construction work – weather, supply, and other issues are a possibility and should be anticipated.
The Town of Erie is working closely with St. Vrain Valley School District to provide the most up-to-date information as it becomes available. And SVVSD, in turn, will help to amplify that messaging to their stakeholders at Soaring Heights and Erie High School.
