2022 Budget Adopted

Budget Adopted

The Board of Trustees adopted the 2022 budget on Nov. 9. A few highlights:

  • The 2022 General Fund reflects an anticipated surplus of approximately $10,000, compared to a 2021 projected use of fund balance of $7.7 million (reflecting spending on one-time expenditures of funding built up over time for that purpose).
  • Total General Fund revenues are up $6 million or 16% compared to 2021.
  • Sales tax, which makes up approximately 40% of General Fund Revenues in 2022, has shown consistent growth in the last 5 years.
  • The assessment rates for 2022 property tax remain at 7.15% for residential properties.

Tie One On Campaign Police Officer

Tie One On Campaign

Since 1986, Mothers Against Drunk Driving Colorado has urged drivers to 'Tie One On' as a reminder to always designate a non-drinking driver. Erie PD Officer Darling is kicking off this longest-running designated driver campaign with her decal (pictured) and asks Erie residents to have a plan for any situation where there is alcohol or drugs. Help us create a nation of #NoMoreVictims by always taking personal responsibility for safely getting yourself and your loved ones home.

singletrack

How the Town Assesses Trail Conditions

Are you a user of the Erie Singletrack Trails at Sunset Open Space and curious how we plan to address inclement weather in the coming months? We have closure protocols in place to assist with just that!

  • Peak Usage Months (March-Nov.) - Staff will assess trail conditions daily at 7 a.m. and post the status of the trails if there is a change in the closure status.
  • Winter Months (Dec.-Feb.) - Staff will assess conditions less frequently than during peak usage months. Staff will evaluate and post closures on an as-needed or weekly basis.
  • Staff will not implement partial closures. Instead, staff enacts full trail closures that will remain in effect for a minimum of 24 hours from the time they were last assessed.

Please help do your part during a closure; respect this resource, and have patience until the trails are safe to open. Subscribe to Singletrack Trails Closure Alerts to get real-time updates at www.erieco.gov/notifyme.

Deicer and shoveling

De-icer and Shoveling

In Erie, property owners are responsible for clearing their sidewalks of snow following each snowstorm. Please do not shovel snow into the streets. Residents can protect waterways after winter storms by shoveling snow onto vegetated areas and minimizing the amount of de-icer used at home. Melting snow will carry chemicals and other pollutants into storm drains that lead directly to nearby streams. De-icers of any kind will negatively affect the environment in large quantities. If using an aid to remove ice, apply it as soon as snowy or icy conditions appear. De-icers help break the bond between ice and pavement to make shoveling easier. However, they do not evaporate the snow and ice, so adding more does not eliminate the need to shovel. Learn more about Erie's winter storm plan on the Erie Snow Removal Procedures webpage.
