Erie Parkway Improvements Update
Beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, Community Development Group, will resume asphalt road work on Erie Parkway between the Bonanza Road and Colliers Parkway intersection and the Weld County Road 5 intersection.
The work is expected to last through mid-September, weather permitting. The construction will involve reduced speeds and daytime lane shifts and/or daytime and nighttime lane closures on Erie Parkway.
Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and traffic control signs, reduce speeds and, if possible, avoid the construction areas. Traffic control signage, delineators, and flaggers will be on-site to enable travel through the construction area in a timely and safe manner. Delays may occur and alternate routes are strongly recommended.
Background
The work is spearheaded by the Colliers Hill and Erie Highlands development and is necessary to firm up the improvements previously made to widen Erie Parkway, otherwise known as ‘final acceptance’. Fortunately, projects in the Town of Erie have not been significantly impacted due to the industry-wide asphalt shortages affecting neighboring communities, thanks, in part, to strategic prioritization and planning. Read more about the asphalt shortage here. This does, however, mean that our window of opportunity for completing many of these important projects is very narrow. We have to use the resources while we have them!
For more information on this project, please contact Town of Erie Construction Inspector, Corey Kuehner at 303-926-2742.
