Update: Erie Parkway OPEN

Erie Parkway is now OPEN between CR 5 and CR 7.

UPDATE: Sinkhole: Erie Parkway Remains CLOSED

Erie Parkway will remain CLOSED to traffic in both directions throughout the evening of July 21 and into Thursday, July 22.

The Public Works Department reports that the cause of the sinkhole is a collapsed pipe. This 5-foot diameter pipe had rusted, become brittle, and gave way.

Garney Construction has located two sections of new pipe to install, along with constructing new headwalls and the hole backfilled. A paving contractor is on-call for road patching.

The Erie Police Department has closed Erie Parkway in both directions between CR 5 and CR 7.

Please avoid the area if possible.
