Travel Safely, Erie! After the heavy snow this weekend, our roads maintenance crews are out in force removing snow from the roadways. Did you know that plows are not built to scrape any ice or compacted snow off the roads? Plow blades are set to push loose snow off the roads. If the plows did attempt to scrape the surface completely clean, we could be looking at a lot of damaged road, removal of white/yellow striping, and potholes! Not to mention getting the roads completely clean might require other heavy equipment like backhoes or dump trucks that could damage curbs and sidewalks. What does all of this mean for you? Passable roads but possibly slick conditions until the sun does its work. Travel safely, Erie!

Singletrack ImprovementsParks Division staff and FlowRide Concepts have been making significant upgrades to the Erie Singletrack trail when weather permits. FlowRide's 2021 scope of work includes additional connector trails, rerouting existing trails, and repairing and upgrading features to improve safety. FlowRide recently applied a clay material in select areas capping the native soils to reduce trail degradation. Staff also finished installing permanent and temporary fencing, trashcans, and an air pump. The fencing is the best defense against troublesome social trails. Coming soon - wayfinding signage!
