Update: Maintenance OperationsKerr McGee has notified the Town of Erie that they have revised their prior plans (see below) and are mobilizing equipment on February 11 and will start work on February 12, with work scheduled to be completed before February 16.
Kerr McGee plans to return in the summer months to permanently plug and abandon this well. Kerr McGee has notified the Town of Erie that they will begin a maintenance operation of 'State 30-16', a site located east of County Road 5 and north of Erie Parkway.
According to Kerr McGee, the activity will begin on or around Monday, February 8, and will take approximately two weeks to complete.
Kerr McGee reports that "In accordance with COGCC Rule 903.a.(1) due to the potential flaring of gas, the relevant and proximate local government, and the local emergency response authorities have been included on this notice. The reason for the potential flaring of gas is to remove well pressure in a safe and secure manner. The flaring will generally be short in duration and occur at the beginning of the operation and could be intermittent during other phases of the operation."
