[ARCHIVED] Severe Weather Update: Clean-Up Efforts Continue - Tree Limb Diversion Center Open

On Sunday, August 4, 2013 Town of Erie Department of Public Works crews will focus clean-up efforts on mud and debris removal particularly in the Grandview neighborhood and along Arapahoe Road west of County Line Road. In the hours after last night's storm, crews were successful in making roads passable; however, further debris removal is necessary today.

BRUSH & LIMB DROP OFF: Today, Sunday, August 4, 2013, the Town of Erie Department of Public Works is offering a brush/tree limb drop off service at the Leon A Wurl Service Center (LAWSC) located at 150 Bonnell Avenue. Staff will accept tree limb and brush drop off from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the LAWSC east entrance off of Bonnell. Staff will help direct residents to the appropriate drop-off spot upon arrival. Residents are advised to use caution as heavy equipment will be operational during this period.

BACKGROUND: During the late afternoon of Saturday, August 3rd, a large storm made its way through the Front Range and caused some damage within the Town of Erie which included flooded roads, downed trees, power outages, damage to buildings, transformers, street signs and fences. The Erie Police Department, Town of Erie Department of Public Works, and Mountain View Fire Rescue set up an Incident Command Center to respond to damage as a result of the severe weather. MVFR deployed 7 units to attend to the area and Lafayette Fire provided 2 units as well. Xcel Energy and United Power were notified of the power outages in the area.

Please be advised that Outdoor Warning Sirens are intended to notify those outdoors of a possible emergency. The sirens are not intended to notify those indoors.
