BACKGROUND: Construction of the latest segment of the Coal Creek/Rock Creek Regional Trail from Vista Pointe in Erie to 120th Street in Lafayette includes five pedestrian bridges, approximately 4 miles of 8 foot crusher fines trail, and an underpass at Highway 7. At the conclusion of this project, 85% of the Coal Creek/Rock Creek Regional Trail will be complete, providing Erie residents with access to over 20 miles of multi-use, soft surface trail through Erie, Boulder County, Lafayette, Louisville, and Superior. The Coal Creek Trail extension through Erie will also facilitate further critical connections north to the St. Vrain Legacy Trail which ultimately connects to the Colorado Front Range Trail, making this project a significant contribution to the overall regional and state-wide trail network.
