No need to worry. The Town of Erie uses different sources of water from different reservoirs during the summer months to meet the demands of our residents. The makeup of the water changes continually due to conditions in each reservoir, therefore the water will taste different at times depending on how much water comes from each source. The water is constantly tested, meets all water quality standards, and is
completely safe to drink. We collect samples and test the water in the distribution system daily to insure its quality.
As the demand to the system increases with the heat (more use for sprinklers), the need to use different sources of water also increases and the taste and smell of the water can change. One way to limit these changes is to conserve water!
