On March 3, the Town of Erie and Echo Brewing and Pizzeria officially closed on Echo’s purchase of the Town-owned property at 600-620 Briggs St. Echo Brewing opened its doors in October 2014, transforming an old fire station into a brewery and restaurant, providing a unique gathering place for the local community. Downtown Colorado, Inc. awarded Echo Brewing the Governor’s Award for Downtown Excellence for Best Adaptive Reuse or Rehabilitation in 2015, recognizing the project as a successful public/private partnership that served as a catalyst for further downtown retail business development.
Originally, in 2013, Echo leased the space at this historic Town-owned property in Downtown Erie and as part of that original lease, Echo Brewing completed approximately $15,000 in improvements to the building exterior, equipment, and landscaping. On Feb. 1, Echo Brewing provided Notice of Exercise of Option to Purchase the Town-owned property, per the terms of the Lease Agreement. The purchase price established by the Lease Agreement was $350,000 minus a $15,000 credit for the improvements.
Echo Brewing has also submitted plans to the Town to quadruple its current footprint (from 2,500 sq. ft. to 10,000 sq. ft.) and develop a new “Briggs Street Market” urban food hall and community gathering space, one of the only market style concepts north of Denver. The Town of Erie recognizes and appreciates Echo Brewing’s continued investment in Erie and looks forward to working with them to complete the expansion project.
