May 27 Update:
Public Works reports that the Erie Parkway bridge over Coal Creek is still on target for the Fall completion date. Next week, weather permitting, a concrete pour will begin set-up at 6:00 a.m. and will likely work past 7:00 p.m. to complete the whole pour in one day! The first phase of pavement is scheduled for July for south lanes, and north lanes in August.
Beginning January 22, the first phase of detours will affect travel on Erie Parkway at Coal Creek as construction begins on the Erie Parkway Bridge.
Eastbound motorists will be required to significantly decrease speed in preparation for merging into a single lane and will continue by crossing the median onto an existing westbound lane.
Westbound travel will also merge to a single lane to accommodate the eastbound travel.
Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures of Erie Parkway.
The closure of Coal Creek Trail has already begun. Additional trail closures and detours will occur on the spine trails that lead to Coal Creek Trail in this area.
Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to construction signs, stay clear of construction equipment and vehicles, and if possible, avoid the construction area during work hours.
