Coal Creek Trail Extension to Reliance Park
The Coal Creek Trail Extension to Reliance Park Project work is scheduled to begin the week of June 27, 2011. Work on Coal Creek Trail Extension will include the construction of an 8 foot wide concrete and 4 foot wide crusher fine multi use path; stormwater improvements; waterline realignment; utility relocations and retaining walls. The project is anticipated to last through the end of September, 2011 - weather permitting.
The project area will extend along Coal Creek from the north side of Cheesman Street to Reliance Park near Weld County Road 1.5 and will involve minimal impacts to traffic. At times motorists should expect some truck traffic exiting and entering the site at Cheesman Street near Coal Creek and occasionally at Weld County Road 1.5 (Briggs Street) near Reliance Park and Coal Creek.
BACKGROUND: The Coal Creek Trail Project is part of a federally funded Transportation Enhancement Project awarded to the Town of Erie through the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). The funding includes the addition of a multiuse path on the east side of Coal Creek from Cheesman Street to Reliance Park. In addition to the Federal funding, additional funding is coming from the Town of Erie Trails & Natural Areas Fund.
Traffic control signage, delineators and flaggers (if necessary) will be on site to enable motorists to move past the construction area in a timely and safe manner during work hours of 7:00AM to 7:00PM.
Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to traffic control signs, reduce speeds near the construction entrance area and, if possible, avoid the construction area during work hours.
