The increase in sales-tax revenue is due in part to the completion of approximatly 120,000 square feet of new commercial commercial space within Erie since 2008. New commercial construction includes approximately 38,000 sq. ft along Highway 7; approximately 35,000 sq. ft at Erie Commons and approximately 31,000 sq. ft at Coal Creek Center.
As a statutory town, the Town of Erie's sales tax is collected by the State of Colorado and remitted monthly. Auto sales tax and other receipts collected from businesses outside Erie economic zones are reported separately.
