ERIE, CO -On Thursday, August 6, 2015 at approximately 6:00 pm, Erie Police were dispatched to a report of a female jogger who was attacked by a dog on Coal Creek Trail near Erie Parkway. The dog was on a leash at the time of the attack but the dog was not under the control of its owner. The dog is described as a large grey and black dog, possibly a Great Dane or Bullmastiff. The owner of the dog is described as a white male, possibly late 30’s to early 40’s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with long curly brown hair.
The victim reported to police that as a precautionary measure, she stopped running before approaching the dog and its owner. However, as she attempted to walk past the dog, the dog lunged at her and bit her several times. The victim left the area after the attack, returned home and reported the incident. The dog owner left the area as well in an unknown direction.
