The new Kattell Street promenade will lead the community into the event space, with ample room for festivals and concerts. This new park layout also features a 2,500-square-foot community building with four restrooms, a café, and a community room. There will be plenty of shade at Coal Creek Park, with trees and two large shade shelters, with one adjacent to the playground featuring slides, swings, nature-themed climbers, and a rope structure.  

The highlight of the playground is a custom-built butterfly structure, in memory of Maddie McDaniel, dubbing the playground, “Maddie’s Playground.” Maddie was only weeks old when she passed, and Erie Parks & Recreation worked closely with her family and their non-profit, Maddie’s Bows, to create a place to honor her memory and the memory of other children who left the world too early. 

Finally, the splash pad rounds out the myriad of activities at Coal Creek Park, but the fun doesn’t stop once winter rolls in. In the winter, the splash pad will transform into the Town’s new ice rink location. The park will have ample parking, with an EV charging station, Wi-Fi, and a future connection to the Coal Creek Disc Golf Course to the east via a pedestrian bridge across Coal Creek Park.
