Join members of the Erie Police Department for a listening session designed to collect sentiment from the Erie community about the police department's potential use of an enhanced Community Safety Tool (K9 Unit).
When: Wednesday, August 24, 6 p.m.
Where: Virtual
Why: Community Safety Tools
Erie Police Department has been researching the formation of a K9 unit. A K9 Unit could be used in high-risk situations such as building searches, tracking suspects or lost individuals, and discovery of concealed narcotics and explosives. Across the country, police departments are using a myriad of means and resources at their disposal. Locally, K9 units have become not only mainstream – but expected.
Our vision is “to be highly trained police professionals committed to our community”. And to that end, we invite you to learn more from the subject matter experts within our police department and share your comments or concerns.
As Mayor Brooks stated, "We continue to work together with the community to ensure that Erie remains among the safest communities not only in our state but in our country."
