WCR 5 near Erie Parkway

Storm sewer work will continue in Weld County Road 5 near the intersection with Erie Parkway and head south on the eastbound side of WCR 5...

From Sept. 21, 2021, to Sept. 29, 2021, storm sewer work will continue in Weld County Road 5 near the intersection with Erie Parkway and head south on the eastbound side of WCR 5 as part of the Westerly Development improvements. Work will be completed no later than Sept. 29, 2021.

The construction will close the right turn lane in WCR 5 but traffic will have access in both directions of WCR 5. Traffic control will remain in place overnight with full access in both directions.

Northbound WCR 5 traffic is suggested to detour heading east on WCR 6/Garfield Road, then north on WCR 7. Southbound WCR 5 traffic is suggested to head east on Erie Parkway then south on WCR 7.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and traffic control signs, reduce speeds and, if possible, avoid the construction area during work hours. Traffic control signage and delineators will be on-site to enable travel through the construction area in a timely and safe manner. Delays may occur and alternate routes are strongly recommended.

Latest Update:

October 13, 2021 1:05 PM

Beginning on Friday October 15 and continuing until Tuesday October 19, water line work will begin in the intersection of Erie Parkway and WCR5 and in sections of WCR5 as part of the Erie Highlands Improvements. The developer, Oakwood Homes, will have a contractor installing water line in the intersection and south from the intersection in WCR5 to supply new developments. The work in the roadway is being done over the fall break weekend to minimize impact to the Soaring Heights and Erie High School operations. Work is expected to be completed by Monday evening October 18, weather permitting.

The construction will involve daytime and nighttime lane shifts and/or lane closures on Erie Parkway and daytime lane shifts and/or closures on WCR5, and both roads will have reduced speeds throughout the weekend.

Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and traffic control signs, reduce speeds and, if possible, avoid the construction areas. Traffic control signage, delineators and flaggers will be on site to enable travel through the construction area in a timely and safe manner. Traffic will be accessible in all directions of the intersection but delays may occur and alternate routes are strongly recommended.
