Economical Sources of Trees

The purchase of mature trees can be very expensive. The Town of Erie has several programs to help reduce the cost to homeowners:

  • New Home Certificate: In most cases, the builder of a new home has paid into a fund to plant trees on the property. New home owners should  email Melinda Helmer or call 303-926-2770 for more information.
  • Residential Tree Incentive Certificates: The Town typically budgets for a number of tree certificates each year. These certificates enable the homeowner to receive a rebate for one tree. For additional information email Sandy French or call 303-926-2887.
  • Home Owner Associations (HOA's) may enter into a cost share agreement to receive a partial reimbursement for new and replacement trees. For additional information email Sandy French or call 303-926-2887.
  • Erie administers a Trees Across Erie sale each year that provides mountain grown trees at wholesale costs.
  • Several of the local tree suppliers often supply trees as raffle prizes for the annual Arbor Day & Earth Day celebrations.
  • Local tree suppliers often hold sales to move inventory. Check your local newspapers and call often.
