Responsibilities
The Town of Erie is a statutory municipality operating under the Town Board / Town Administrator form of government. Under this form of government, the Board of Trustees (one Mayor, one Mayor Pro-Tem, five Trustees) serves as the legislative and governing body of the Town, while the Town Administrator administers the day-to-day operations of the Town. The Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing Town policies and goals and has the authority to adopt laws, ordinances and resolutions as needed to conduct the business of the Town. Each Trustee is also responsible for acting as a liaison to regional boards and commissions on behalf of the Town of Erie.
Rules of Order & Procedure
On April 28, 2020, the Erie Board of Trustees amended the Rules of Order & Procedure which is intended to guide the activities of the board. The Rules of Order & Procedure were adopted for the the orderly conduct of Board of Trustees meetings and preparation of agendas for the Board of Trustees meetings. Meetings
The Erie Board of Trustees meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Board Room located at 645 Holbrook Street. View meetings from the comfort of your home, or find archived meetings.

The Board of Trustees are not full-time employees of the Town. For the most expeditious reply, please email Town Staff at contactus@erieco.gov. This is also the best place to ask any administrative or process questions.
For policy questions, or other comments directed at the Board, you may email the Board of Trustees or call 303-926-2777 to leave the Board a voicemail. - How long are the terms for Mayor and Trustees?

The Mayor serves a two-year term and the six other Trustees serve staggered four-year terms. The Town of Erie conducts its regular municipal election in April of even-numbered years. During regular municipal elections, registered voters elect a Mayor to serve a two-year term, and three Trustees to serve four-year terms.
This could change in the event that the Town decides to pursue a Home Rule Charter.
- Can I address the Board during Board of Trustees meetings?

Yes. Public Comment during regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meetings is available for each person to speak for three minutes. Each meeting includes a Public Comment agenda item to provide the public an opportunity to discuss items that are not on the agenda. The Board of Trustees is not prepared to decide on matters brought up during Public Comment, but if warranted, will place them on a future agendas for further discussion or decisions.
