VIN Verification

A VIN verification is a physical inspection of a vehicle to verify that the vehicle identification number on the vehicle matches the registration or title document. This inspection can be made by a Colorado auto dealer, license inspection station (emissions), or a Colorado law enforcement officer. 


New Erie residents who are looking to register their vehicle(s) in Colorado. 


Bonded title vehicles, rebuilt vehicles, vehicles assembled from a kit, most trailers and other roadworthy, operable vehicles may be inspected to be registered.

When & Where

Law enforcement officers are available to inspect VINs at the Erie Police Department during business hours (M-F, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) at 1000 Telleen Avenue. No appointment is necessary.


Fees are payable at time of service.
