Approved Tree Species

Thoroughly research all trees before ultimately choosing a tree to assure that the species you select is suitable for the desired site in regards to mature tree sizes and growing conditions. All height and branch spread figures are estimates and can be highly variable depending on the variety of cultivar chosen. All of the listed trees are suitable for planting on private properties (i.e. lawns/yards). Only thornless varieties of thorn bearing species shall be planted in any public access areas. Only non-cotton bearing male cottonwood trees shall be planted. Trees marked as suitable street trees are appropriate for planting in curb-lawns, medians, right-of-ways, and parking lot islands as long as they are in accordance with Town of Erie tree spacing requirements. Evergreen trees shall not be planted as street trees.
