Outstanding Resident Award

The Outstanding Resident Award is presented to Erie resideoutstanding resident awardnts, non-profits, or organizations who have made significant contributions to or had a significant positive impact on the community. Residents are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals for consideration for the award often. Selection criteria are broad, as contribution and impact can be measured or determined in different ways. Things such as community leadership, community organization involvement, heroic action, humanitarian efforts, service, volunteerism, and even things like business success, personal or professional achievement, or recognition brought to the Town of Erie community as a result of an individual's efforts.

Each nomination will be given the utmost consideration. When a nominee is selected for the award, the nominator will be notified by the Town of Erie and the next formal recognition will be by the Board of Trustees in January. The award itself is a commemorative brick laid in the heart of the Town, at the Erie Community Park. 

The 2023 winners are:

Elena Clark: Elena has baked cookies for the police and fire departments and aided in collecting any items needed for anyone in need. She also hand crafts wooden signs for families of police officers killed in the line of duty She has set up a meal train for families in need, comforting and feeding those in need for weeks. She has hosted a birthday auction for several years and donates the proceeds to local charities, including RISE Against Suicide and SAVA. 

Lisa Knudsen: Lisa serves on many boards including Erie HS Ed Foundation and is one of the Founders of Erie Uplink, which helps children and students with food over school breaks, gifts for the holidays and hats, gloves and socks for winter months. She has been an integral part of helping raise money to provide scholarships for Erie High School graduates. She also helps students with scholarship application process.

To enter a nomination at any time, complete the nomination form. Each year, nominations will be collected and winners for each category chosen for a ceremony at the beginning of the next year. The 2024 process will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 1 - complete all nomination forms by that time to be considered for this round.

Flag Display Request

The Town of Erie may approve the display of a special flag with the approval of an application from an Erie resident on flagpoles owned or controlled by the Town.
