In accordance with state law, since 2009 the Town of Erie has investigated regulations and enacted legislation concerning the operation of recreational and medical marijuana businesses within the Town of Erie.
Recreational Marijuana Businesses
During their November 10, 2015 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an ordinance amending Title 4 "Business Regulations" of the Erie Municipal Code by adding a new chapter "Retail Marijuana Business Prohibition," prohibiting marijuana cultivation facilities; marijuana product manufacturing facilities; marijuana testing facilities and retail marijuana stores within Erie. The ordinance was approved on Second Reading and will go into effect 30 days after publication (December 18, 2015).
It is unlawful for any person to cultivate, produce or process medical marijuana plants within the Town of Erie unless such person is registered as a patient with the State of Colorado, and with the Town of Erie.
