Schools & Non-Profit Tree Cost Share Program


Program Details

The non-profit program offers an 80% Town, 20% school / non-profit cost share with a maximum expenditure for all approved applications not to exceed $3,000.

  How It Works: 

  • Eligible applicants include public and private schools and community non-profit groups.
  • Properties where trees will be planted must be within the Town limits.
  • School/Non-profit is responsible for complete care of the trees, including watering, and all costs associated with care
  • Tree purchase and installation costs are eligible for reimbursement. Irrigation systems, tree maintenance, tree removal, stump grinding, and general landscaping (turf, shrubs, flowers, mulch, rock cobble, etc.) are not eligible expenses.
  • Trees must be from the Front Range Tree Recommendation List (PDF), excluding ash and dwarf varieties or trees with an expected mature height of less than 12 feet. Deciduous trees must be 1.5 inch caliper or greater. Evergreens must be at least 6 feet tall.
  • Preferred planting dates are from March 15 to June 15 and from September 1 to October 15
  • Applications may be submitted through September 30th and must include a description of the proposed project, project site map, detailed project budget, tree establishment, and long-term care plan.
  • Applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of the Town Parks and Open Space Division Manager and Town forestry staff
  • Successful applicants will be required to sign a cost-share agreement and submit copies of paid invoices for review, approval, and reimbursement, up to the approved amount. Town forestry staff will inspect all work completed under this program prior to approving reimbursement
