Crestone Peak Resources has notified the Town of Erie that they will soon begin the task of plugging and abandoning all four wells on the Sosa location. This site is just east of County Line Road and north of Evans Street.According to Crestone, a truck mounted service rig will move in and rig up this week. A crew will pull tubing out of the wells, set permanent plugs, and cement the wells per Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) regulations. Once set, the cement casings will be cut-off below surface and metal plates will be welded into place. Surface equipment that supports this well site will be removed as well.All access to this site is limited to the designated access road. Equipment expected on location during this time includes a truck mounted service rig, various pieces of heavy equipment, water tanks, trucks and worker pickup trucks.Crestone has said that all work will be done during the day and that this activity should last approximately six weeks.
