Board Approves Resolution Supporting the Town Hall Expansion

During Tuesday night’s meeting, the Board unanimously approved a Resolution, in support of Ballot Measure 3A appearing on the April 3, 2018 Ballot. The resolution read as follows:


A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ERIE, COLORADO, IN SUPPORT OF BALLOT MEASURE 3A APPEARING ON THE APRIL 3, 2018 BALLOT, A TABOR ELECTION, FOR THE TOWN HALL EXPANSION. 

WHEREAS, during the January 23, 2018 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board approved Resolution 18-26, a resolution authorizing a TABOR Election on April 3, 2018 for the Town Hall expansion; and

WHEREAS, the construction and equipping of the Town Hall expansion and renovation project including an expanded board room is necessary for greater audience participation; and

WHEREAS, the Town Hall expansion and renovation will create a community meeting space; and

WHEREAS, the Town Hall expansion and renovation will provide necessary health and safety upgrades and energy efficiency upgrades;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ERIE, COLORADO, THAT: 

Section 1. The Board of Trustees unanimously and enthusiastically supports the construction and equipping of the Town Hall expansion and renovation project and urges all Erie voters to vote “yes” on 3A.

Board Approves Funding for Construction of the Linear Trail
Linear Connection Preferred - Basic

The Board of Trustees approved a resolution funding the construction of the Linear Trail Connection Project during Tuesday night’s meeting.  This trail connection will increase trail connectivity, improve circulation and encourage alternative forms of transportation to/from the downtown area.  The trail will be located between High Street and the alley, south of Coal Miners Park.  It is anticipated that the construction for this project will begin this summer and be completed by the fall.

Background: In April 2017, the Board of Trustees authorized a contract with Wenk Associates to complete a master plan and construction documents for the Linear Trail Connection.  It has been the Town’s and Board of Trustees vision to complete this project.  The conceptual master plan was approved by the Board of Trustees on January 23, 2018 and staff was directed to move forward with final construction documents.

Encroachment License Agreement Approved

The Board approved a resolution to enter into an Encroachment License agreement with Kerr-McGee Gathering, LLC for construction of oil and gas related pipelines in the Town right-of-way. Kerr-McGee Gathering LLC (Anadarko) is proposing to install various pipelines in Town right-of-way on Weld County Road 5, 7, 10, 12 and Erie Parkway. The Encroachment Licenses will grant Ker-McGee the right to use the Town’s right-of-way for these pipelines and allows the Town to terminate the agreement at any time with a 90 day notice.


Board Considers Parkdale PUD & Preliminary Plat

In two separate actions, the Board considered the Planned Unit Development (PUD) Overlay Map Rezoning and the Preliminary Plat for the Parkdale residential development.  Parkdale is located north of Colorado State Highway 7, west of County Line Road, south of Arapahoe Road, and east of N. 119th Street.


The PUD Overlay proposed creates seven (7) villages that designate the number of dwelling units, residential use type, and area designated for the village. The PUD sets a maximum number of dwelling units at 642 with 114 of those units being an attached residential product.  Major public right-of-way locations are designated in the PUD Overlay, along with the locations of public open space, privately maintained open space, pocket parks, trails, and oil and gas facilities.


The Preliminary Plat Site Specific Data:

  • Preliminary Plat Size: 218.48 acres
  • Number of Residential Lots: 642 lots (83.65 acres)
  • Number of Tracts (OS/Parks/Private Amenity): 6 tracts (44.38 acres)
  • Other Tracts (Landscape/Buffers/O&G): 40 tracts (36.37 acres)
  • Public Right-Of-Way: 54.08 acres
  • Residential Density Proposed: 2.9 dwelling units per acre
  • Residential Density Allowed: 5.0 dwelling units per acre


The Board will consider these matters during their March 27, 2018 meeting.
