Mayor Tina Harris presented Town of Erie Detective Brendan Beggan and Samantha Cruz, Guest Service Lead at the Erie Community Center with a STAR Award. Both of these individuals were recognized for demonstrating superior customer service for taking care of the patrons and employees of the ECC and for working a major investigation resulting in a successful conclusion.
BACKGROUND: The STAR Award has been created to recognize and express appreciation for services rendered by Town employees who demonstrate exceptional service and/or performance in one or more of the following categories: Customer Service, Safety, Creativity, Teamwork and Outstanding Achievement.
The Board of Trustees approved a resolution authorizing the award of a Pre-Construction contract to Fransen Pittman General Contractors for the Town Hall Expansion Project in the amount of $34,973 and a contingency amount of $5,000. The Town Hall expansion will encourage and support the economic success of our community for the foreseeable future and continue to build on the commitment made by the Board to keep the anchor of our governing body in its existing location.
BACKGROUND: The remodel of the Town Hall that was completed in February of this year accommodated immediate staffing needs, as well as 11 additional works stations. However, the forecasted staffing needs and service areas will require additional space in order to continue to provide efficient service and best serve our growing community.The proposed 40,000 square foot Town Hall Expansion includes a "one stop" service area, larger boardroom, additional public meeting spaces and room for growth. The layout of the expansion will allow for easy access to the frequently desired services offered at Town Hall now and in the future, including building permits, contractor licenses, planning reviews, utility bill payment, cemetery inquiries and engineering project information requests.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved on second reading an amendment to Title 10 of the Town of Erie Municipal Code. The proposed amendment would require the operators of oil and gas flowlines and subsurface facilities to submit maps and other relevant information for flowlines and subsurface facilities located within the municipal limits of the Town.Specifically, operators of oil and gas operations existing prior to October 31, 2017 are required to submit to the Town Administrator by December 31, 2017 information regarding existing oil and gas flowlines and all other subsurface facilities installed or acquired, owned, or operated by the operator within Town limits. Information includes but is not limited to: a map including GPS location of the existing flowlines; a copy of notices of abandonment; and a plan for removing abandoned flowlines or other subsurface facilities where such removal is practicable.
The Board of Trustees approved a resolution authorizing the award of a design contract to Felsburg Holt & Ullevig for the Moffat Street Extension and Bridge over Coal Creek during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Background: The 2017 Transportation Capital Budget has funds appropriated for the design of the Moffat Street Extension and Bridge over Coal Creek. This project will provide connectivity for both pedestrians and vehicles between the Historic Downtown district of Erie and the Colliers Hill development to the east and trail users along Coal Creek. This new street connection is identified as the East Gateway in the Downtown Redevelopment Framework Plan. The Downtown Redevelopment Framework Plan was presented at the December 13, 2016 Board of Trustee Meeting.
