On Monday, April 11th, the National Research Center (NRC) began mailing the first wave of the 2017 Town of Erie Citizen Survey to 3,000 randomly selected Erie households. If you receive a survey, please take a few moments to complete and return it in the pre-paid envelope. Your feedback will help the Town of Erie Board of Trustees make decisions that affect our Town.A couple of things to remember:
Note: Beginning on Monday, April 18th, NRC will mail a second wave of surveys to the same selected households. If you completed and returned the first survey you received, we ask that you recycle the second survey. Please do not respond twice. Thank you!
NEW THIS YEAR! An opt-in online survey will be available on the Town’s website to all residents beginning May 8, 2017. If your household did not receive a survey in the mail, you are encouraged to participate in the online survey.
The final report with survey results will be made available to the public this summer.
The 2017 Town of Erie Citizen Survey is designed to better understand our citizens’ thoughts about a variety of issues including: quality of life; quality of services; safety and community engagement. Information obtained through the survey will assist the Board of Trustees and Town staff in improving service delivery and identifying spending priorities. The survey results will serve as an important measure of the Town of Erie’s performance and will include the benefit of comparability with other jurisdictions.
This is the third year the Town of Erie has contracted to participate in the National Citizen Survey (NCS). The previous surveys were conducted in 2013 and 2015. The NCS is a service of the National Research Center and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). The NCS has been designed to complement the work of ICMA’s Center for Performance Measurement. The 2017 Town of Erie Citizen Survey will have a statistically valid margin of error of +/- 3%. With this margin of error, you may conclude that when 60% of survey respondents report that a particular service is “excellent” or “good” somewhere between 57% and 63% of all Erie residents are likely to feel the same way.
