Policy & Procedures for Grants to Community Organizations
The purpose of this policy is to set a uniform process by which community organizations my apply to the Town for financial and in-kind support of projects, programs and events.  This policy assumes an annual cycle to allow for appropriate budgeting and planning.  Any requests submitted "out-of-cycle" should be submitted to the Town Clerk who will forwrad to the Board of Trustees for consideration during a Board of Trustees meeting.

Town Event
A Town Event is funded, organized, hosted and produced by the Town of Erie. All Town Events will be advertised and promoted through all of the Town’s promotional channels to the extent practicable.

Town Sponsored Event
A Town-Sponsored Event is produced in Erie for the benefit of Erie residents and visitors to Erie and is funded in whole or in part by the Town of Erie. Funding for Town-Sponsored Events appears in the adopted Town budget. 

Town Endorsed Event
A Town-Endorsed Event is produced in Erie for the benefit of Erie residents and visitors and is not funded by the Town but is recognized by the Board of Trustees as meeting the Award Criteria for Grants to Community Organizations and is therefore eligible for In-Kind Promotional Opportunities.
Award Criteria
All applications for Grant Awards and In-Kind Promotional Opportunities will be reviewed based upon how well the state purpose for the donation request serves the Town's citizenry in relation to general criteria that is stated in the Policies and Procedures.

Eligibility
Eligibility is restricted to applicants which are recognized community service organizations, organized and federally designated for tax purposes as non-profit corporations, and/ or chartered chapters of state or national lodges or service organizations which engage in charitable or community service activities and public schools located in Erie.  Events hosted by private for profit organizations seeking financial or in-kind support will be considered by the Board on a case by case basis.

Process
Applications for Grants to Community Organizations are available on the Town’s website and in the Erie Town Clerk’s Office.  All requests for financial and in-kind support of projects, programs and events requests must be submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office at Erie Town Hall. Applicants should expect to attend the Board meeting in order to respond to any questions or clarifications which may arise as the result of Board discussion.
