Statutory / Advisory Boards
The Board of Trustees appoints both statutory and advisory boards to provide input and make recommendations on an ongoing or as-needed basis. Two statutory boards are required by the Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS): the Planning Commission by CRS 31-23-202 and the Board of Adjustment by CRS 31-23-307.
Advisory boards (ie., Tree Board, Historic Preservation Advisory Board, Housing Authority and Open Space, and Trails Advisory Board) are mandated by Town of Erie ordinances.

The Board of Trustees appoints members to the Town's various statutory and advisory boards and commissions. Appointments for vacancies are made by the new board following the regular municipal election. Appointments will also be made by the board at other times, when necessary, following a resignation or other unexpected vacancy.

Board of Trustees Seeking to Fill Tree Board Vacancy
The Town of Erie Board of Trustees is seeking citizens who are interested in volunteering their time in public service to the community by serving on the Town of Erie Tree Board. Interested citizens can pick-up an application in the Town Clerk’s Office, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 645 Holbrook St., or can complete an application online. More information about the Tree Board and when meetings are held can be found here. To be considered for an appointment, applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday March 31, 2107.
Erie is a Tree City USA, a designation granted by the Arbor Day Foundation to municipalities who effectively manage their public tree resources and implement community forester programs.
One vacancy exists on the Tree Board, with a term set to expire in April of 2018. The seven (7) members of the Tree Board are appointed by the Board of Trustees to rotating four-year terms, which end in April of even numbered years. All members of the Tree Board must be residents of the Town.
Erie Board of Trustees Seeks Two Volunteers for the Board of Adjustment
The Town of Erie Board of Trustees is seeking citizens who are interested in volunteering their time in public service to the community by serving in an alternate position on the Board of Adjustment. Interested citizens can apply on-line at www.erieco.gov or pick-up an application in the Town Clerk’s Office, located on the second floor of Town Hall, 645 Holbrook St., or call 303-926-2731. Applications, meeting dates and times can also be found on the Town’s website at . Applicants who have education and/or experience in any of the following areas are greatly encouraged to apply. To be considered for appointments effective June 13, 2017, applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm May 30, 2017.
All Board and Commission members must be a resident of the Town of Erie.
The work of an advisory board and/or commission is accomplished in various ways including regular and special meetings, subcommittees, and tasks, assigned to or volunteered for, within the framework of the board/commission. In taking on the role of an advisory board/commission member, appointees are committing themselves to the time necessary to accomplish the board's work, including subcommittee work, and the time necessary to review meeting packets, information, and materials provided by staff, other board members, and concerned citizens.
